What
to expect on the PADI Instructor Development Course

The PADI IDC begins with independent
self study and is split into two programmes. The Assistant Instructor
Course (PADI AI) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor Course
(PADI OWSI). The course takes 8/9 days in total and now includes
the PADI Emergency First Response Instructor course.
Need to brush up on your Dive
Theory - Look no further
The focus of these programmes is
on development and learning by making mistakes and being corrected.
We learn best by making mistakes, then receiving the necessary
feedback to help us improve.
You are expected to have good diving
theory skills as this does not form part of the course, you
will have covered these subjects in your Divemaster Course or
similar course from another diving organisation.
On successful completion of the
PADI IDC you will receive confirmation from the Course Director,
which will allow you to attend an Instructor Examination (IE).
If you are already a PADI Assistant
Instructor you need only complete the OWSI part of the PADI
IDC, however it is strongly recommended that you attend the
entire Instructor Course, to familiarise yourself with any changes
that PADI may make.
If you are already an Instructor
with another diving organisation you can choose to complete
the OWSI part of the IDC and crossover to a PADI Instructor.
